Little is known so far about the brand new character Skylanders Alchemist. The New York Toy Fair in February of this year revealed Activisions sequel to Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure. One of the new Skylanders Characters on display was Alchemist.
Skylanders Alchemist belongs to the Magic element. Magic Skylanders use the power of magic to destroy enemies. The Magic element is purple in color and these figures stand on a pedestal decorated with stars and moons.
It seems that Alchemist has a split personality. His character holds a large potion bottle, and it seems that if he drinks the potion, he is transformed into a beastly dark blue version of himself.

At the New York Toy Fair in February 2012, we got our first glimpse of one of the highly anticipated Skylanders Giants Figures. SkylandersTree Rex is the only one of the 8 new Giants to have been revealed. There will be one for each of the Skylanders types: Water, Air, Magic, Undead, Earth, Fire, Life and Tech. Tree Rex is a Life Skylander, we know this as he sits on a pedestal of inter-twined green leaves.
The Tree Rex Giant toy is about twice as large as the existing Skylanders Characters, as you can see from the picture below. The figures also lights up when placed on the Portal of Power.
Some in game footage of Skylanders Giants was revealed at the toy fair, showcasing some of the new features of Tree Rex. We already know that the Skylands are a range of floating magical islands, but new to the Giants game is the fact that these new characters, using their enormous strength can pull on chains that link to islands together, and move from one to another.
We also saw that due to the increased physical strenth of Tree Rex, he can destroy buildings and find new objects and passages, that are hidden to normal Skylanders. We saw him crash through some weakened floor boards in a castle, which revealed a totally new area.
The developers of the smash hit game Skylanders:Spyro’s Adventure have now released a new Skylanders game, Skylanders Cloud Patrol for the iPhone and iPad.
In the game, you become one of the Skylanders Characters, and take to the skies in a flying Skylanders Gunship, and help rid Skylands of a gang of escaped Trolls. Skylanders: Cloud Patrol is an arcade shooter type game, very different to Spyro’s Adventure. To play you tap the screen to shoot at trolls or slide your finger across targets, to create combos to knock out the trolls. The bigger the number of trolls you can target in one area, the more points are awarded, and the more loot is collected!

In the game you progress quickly through a large number of short levels, by clearing the Skylands platforms of trolls. They pop up from behind rocks and shields, fly in using jetpacks and jump in across the screen. You have to quickly tap the trolls to knock them off the platform or touch and drag several trolls at the same time, for a high scoring combo. As you progress through the levels the abilities of the trolls become more challenging to overcome. There are wizard trolls that send spinning blue balls, that also must be destroyed. Some trolls set up big guns that fire orange rolling balls, that will also destroy you if they are not fired at.
At the same time, there are red spiky bombs whizzing around the screen. If you tap a bomb by mistake, or pass your finger through a bomb will doing a combo, your game is over. If too many troll cannons blast your ship, the game is over. There are also bonus magic items which you come across while completeing levels. The first is the Ghost Swords which give the player more rapid firing abilities. For any of you that are familiar with Skylanders, you will also recognise Anvil Rain and Time Twister.
The aim of Skylanders Cloud Patrol
is to progress quickly through the levels and unlock gems. As you unlock new levels you will earn coins, which you can use to upgrade your magic items, to make them more powerful. Level progression and acquiring gems also allows you to unlock new Skylanders. These Skylanders are the same familiar characters from Spyro’s Adventure, with their own individual story and appearance.
If you already own Skylanders Characters you can use your web code card to unclock these Skylanders and Magic Items in Cloud Patrol. However, all the Skylanders fire the cannon in the same way, you just get to collect your set within the Cloud Patrol game. The only advantage to having a range of Skylanders is that each figures element can be untilized for daily bonuses. As you are battling you only see the back of your Skylanders Figure anyway.

Simply place a Skylander Character on the Portal of Power and they are miraculously transported to the Skylands to begin their adventure. If you are playing with or against friends, simply place another Skylander onto the portal. If you want to change the Skylander you are playing with, then just take it off the portal and replace with another.
Three Skylanders Characters are included in the Starter Pack. For the 3DS, these are Dark Spyro, Ignitor and Stealth Elf. In theory, you can complete with entire adventure with just these three Skylanders, however in certain areas of the game various other Skylanders might have an advantage, so it’s easier if you have a range of Skylanders. Also if one Skylander dies, then it can be relaced by another, so the more Skylanders you have the longer you can continue playinig before starting over!
There are 32 Skylanders in total belonging to eight different elements: Air, Water, Life, Magic, Undead, Earth, Tech and Fire. Each group of Skylanders have certain strengths.
