Skylanders Whirlwind

Skylanders Whirlwind was a very popular character in the Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure video game. Being a mixture of a Unicorn and Dragon, she had to be a pretty cool character to own! Whirlwind returned in the Skylanders Giants video game. As well as a new regular version of, Activison have also brought out a rare granite version and a special variant version known as Polar Whirlwind. At present I don’t know if there will be a new version designed for the upcoming Skylanders Swap Force video game, due for release in Fall 2013. Activision have said though, that all current figures will play in the new game, so if you already have Whirlwind, that ‘s good news!

Poor Whirlwind could never really fit in with either group of her ancestors. Being an air dragon of unicorn ancestry meant that she could never really be accepted. Her beauty and grace made the other dragons jealous, and her ability to fly and appearance did not sit well with the unicorns. Despite these difficulties she was quick to defend both the dragons and the unicorns when trolls attacked her lands. She then decided to become a Skylander, and fight to defend the Skylands.

 

Series 1 Skylanders Whirlwind

This is the version from the Spyro’s Adventure video game. Like all the other Series 1 figures, this version has green plastic at the bottom of the base. The figure stands on a base decorated with clouds which shows that she belongs to the Air Element group of Skylanders. The Series 1 figure is a blue color with a white horn, wing feathers and chest. This figure will also play in the Giants video game.

Series 2 Skylanders Whirlwind

This figure was designed for the Giants game, and has orange at the bottom of the base. The Series 2 figure has a slightly different pose, and a pink and yellow horn. The Series 2 figure has a special “Wow Pow” upgrade power and at a certain point in the game there is a choice of two upgrade paths. You can either decide to improve her Rainbow of Doom attacks or her Tempest Cloud Attacks. You can play the Series 2 figure in the Spyro’s Adventure game.

Series 3 Skylanders Whirlwind

As I mentioned above I don’t know whether she will be returning in Skylanders Swap Force. At present all Activision have said is that there will be 16 returning figures and that Stealth Elf will be one of them. Once I have any additional information I will update this page.

Polar Whirlwind

This is a special variant version of a Series 2 figure, designed for Giants. Polar Whirlwind is painted a metallic white color, and looks pretty awesome. The only color is her pink and yellow horn. At present she is only available in some countries in Europe such as Norway. Onces she arrives in the USA, I will let you know!

 

 

 

Granite Whirlwind

This  is  a rare figure designed for the  Giants game. She is basically a Series 2 figure, but painted a granite color. This unusual figure appeared on stores shelves randomly and I don’t know how many were actually manufactured. You can now find her on sites such as Amazon or eBay. It is important to remember that even though she looks very different from the regular figure, she will look and play the same as regular version in the video game.

The Series 1 figure is available in a Single Character Pack and a triple pack along with Series 1 Double Trouble and Series 1 Drill Sergeant. The Series 2 version is also available in a single character pack, and a triple pack along with Series 2 Trigger Happy and Pop Fizz. Polar Whirlwind will be available in a single character pack very soon. Granite Whirlwind is available in a single character pack on eBay and sometimes Amazon.
